Braces-Orthodontic Treatment
Malaligned teeth or an improper bite can not only detract from an attractive smile, but can also lead to tooth decay and gum disease, eventually leading to early tooth loss. The braces treatment can help alter and mend the growth and structure of your teeth, making these complement your personality , instead of take away from it .

Preventive Dentistry
Preventive Dentistry
A major concern for twentieth century medicine and science , is to enforce and practice preventive measures.
Sealants
Sealants are resins or plastic materials which are usually applied on to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth i.e. molars and premolars. these materials flow into the natural grooves and pits and seals them, thus protecting these susceptible areas from decay.
Not just for children
Both children and adults can benefit from the added protection sealants provide. Children benefit greatly from sealants for several reasons. The enamel on newly erupted teeth takes 3 years to mature. This leaves young teeth especially vulnerable to decay. However it is never too late for sealants-adults are also at risk tooth decay and should consider sealants, especially if they have risk factors for cavities.
- Reasons for sealants-
- To maintain dental health for children with new permanent teeth and to prevent future dental problems in adults.
- To save time and money in the long run by preventing tooth decay especially when risk factors are present (e.g.-history of cavities, poor oral hygiene, dry mouth conditions and low fluoride intake).
Fluoride application
Fluoride helps strengthen the teeth through process called remineralisation wherein the mineral bonds to weakened areas of tooth enamel. It also disrupts acid production, helping to inhibit the process that leads to tooth decay.
- Who will benefit from fluoride treatment?
- Children whose permanent teeth have not yet developed.
- Individuals with dry mouth.
- Those with history of cavities.
- Those with poor dental hygiene.
- Individuals who have crowns and bridges.
- Individuals with braces.
- Frequent snackers and those with high sugar diet.
- Bottled water drinkers.

Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment
Root canals treatment is recommended when decay has reached the nerve of the tooth. It is in the best interest of the patient to save a tooth with root canal treatment rather than having it extracted and replaced with bridgework or implants, which are more expensive treatment options.
Root canal treatment involves removal of the diseased or dead tissue from the tooth’s nerve space and replacing it with an inert material after thorough disinfection.
- Indications that root canal is necessary-
- Severe tooth ache.
- An abscess on the gums.
- Sensitivity to hot and cold.
- Swelling and or tenderness.
- Reasons for root canal treatment-
- Decay has reached the tooth pulp.
- An abscess or infection has developed at the root tip or inside the tooth.
- Injury or trauma has caused the pulp to die, risking infection.
Your tooth may be sensitive for several days following the treatment, but this will diminish as the tooth heals and inflammation subsides.

Gum Treatments
Gum Treatments
Diseases which involve the supporting structures of the teeth are the leading causes of tooth loss in adults. Fortunately, early detection and treatment of gum disease makes it possible for most people to retain their teeth for a lifetime. Gum treatments are aimed at removing the plaque and tartar from tooth surfaces and can be achieved through a number of procedures depending on the extent of the problem. These procedures include –
a) Scaling
b) Gingivectomy
c) Flap surgeryTypes of Gum Treatments

Extractions
Extractions
A tooth extraction is the removal of the tooth from the mouth.
- Reasons for tooth extractions-
- When fracture or decay has damaged the tooth beyond repair.
- When extra teeth block new teeth from erupting.
- To make room for the other teeth to be moved in for orthodontic treatment.
- When wisdom teeth become impacted (stuck in the jaw), when their eruption will disturb neighbouring tooth or when they become painful due to incomplete eruption or infection.
